Rita Wong, PT, EdD
Dr. Rita Wong is professor of physical therapy and assistant dean for graduate and professional studies at Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia. She has 30 years of experience in physical therapy higher education, with teaching areas focused on geriatric physical therapy and translating evidence into practice. She is a Catherine Worthingham Fellow of the APTA.
She has a sustained history of leadership in the Section on Geriatrics, APTA, including leadership in the development of geriatric specialization and geriatric residencies. She served as chair of the Section on Geriatrics Retooling for an Aging America taskforce which, among other things, developed the document Essential Competencies in Geriatrics for Physical Therapists at Entry to the Profession. She is co-editor of the third edition of the textbook Geriatric Physical Therapy (2012), and has served as mentor for the inaugural APTA Educational Leadership Institute (ELI), preparing the next generation of academic leaders in physical therapy.
